Having said that.....

UGH I know other mom's can identify with the mad obsession of controlling what happens concerning our children. It can really drive you crazy if you let it. Can we control everything? No of course not....but we can try. The problem is that when other people are involved that don't have the same moral values or standards of living, you feel helpless! And for a mom trying to guard her child, feeling helpless can really make the claws come out :) I understand completely a mama bear ripping to shreds anything or anyone threatening her young cub.
So yeah try as we might...we cannot control everything concerning our children. We just have to make sure we are the ones who provide the safe stable environment and teach them the necessary life skills to cope with whatever comes their way. Life won't always be fair and mixed messages are being thrown at our children everyday. All we can do is stick to what we know is right...make the best choices we can for them and be there for them when they get crapped on by the idiots in the world that we all try to avoid.
That's my two cents for the day

Hatred is a bad thing

I've come to learn as painful as it is....that bitterness, resentment, and absolute loathing is a LOT of work. It really just takes too much energy and as much as someone may deserve it....I DON'T deserve to live that way. Of course this is something I have known since I was old enough to hear the lessons on forgiveness. Now i'm actually having to put it into action.
I can only be the mom God has called me to be and He will have to take care of the rest. I can't be a shield every minute of every day for my son, I can only believe and expect absolute and total protection for him and trust that angels are watching over him. That's a tall order but all things are possible with God.

Change

So my New Year's eve was literally the best one I've had in eight years. I have always had such high hopes in New Years past and every year I would be sadly disapointed....year after year. I was disapointed because things never changed....as much as I changed on the outside and the inside, nothing else did. As much as I tried to be optimistic it just ended up the same....which was just misery.

So enough about the bad stuff!!! What a great way to start the New Year....good friends, new and old...new hopes, new dreams...and new expectations.

As far as my new changes go....my son is also dealing with the changes as well. He is adjusting great...better than I expected but when you have a negative energy in the house and then have it removed....you feel a sense of relief I guess. That's what he feels I think...relief. Now all i can do is pray protection over him every time he makes his weekend trips....that's the hardest part for me...watching him go and not being able to shield him from anything while he is away....But I have to trust that God can protect him and as long as I still teach him the difference between right and wrong...the ugly inappropriate stuff will have no place in his life!!!

I'm on the Naughty List

Okay I haven't really done anything to deserve being on the Naughty List, well unless you count that one time....no nevermind. Anyhoo, I've been good but according to my son, Santa will not bring me presents because I've been bad.

We were making his list of things that he would like Santa to bring him and when he was finished he asked me what I wanted Santa to bring me. I explained to him I was not getting presents from Santa, only he was....so that's when he asked me "is it because you've been bad? It is isn't it mom....you've been bad and Santa won't bring you nuffin" I love kids :)

Tuesday's gone......with the wind....

Tuesdays are always so blah....it's not like Monday....you know what to expect out of a Monday. Monday's suck because it's starting the work week all over again. Who likes that?
Wednesday's have a nick name. It's called Hump Day due to it's position in the order of days. It's in the middle and once you get over the HUMP...you're home free...hence the term Hump Day. It also has a motto that goes along with it that may not be that popular around here but I've heard it a few times so I'll share it with you "Love the one you hump and hump the one you love" Need I say more about Wednesday?
Then there is Thursday which is nice because all day you can think "thank God tomorrow is Friday!" So Thursday brings excitement because you know that Friday follows!
Then obviously Friday is the best day because well, HEY, it's freaking Friday...no need for explanations.
Tuesday offers NOTHING. It comes after crappy monday and before HUMP day so it's quiet and boring and if Lynrd Skynrd had not sang a song about it...we would never have anything to say about it.
The ONE time Tuesday's were a big deal in my life was when I went to college in Kansas. My good friend Judah and I would listen to a certain radio station and every tuesday they had Two for Tuesday which meant they played two songs by same artist. That was always a good time (as sad as that sounds now) Oddly enough that is the same radio station that I heard "Hump the one you love and love the one you hump" for the very first time :)

Manic Monday...whoa-oh oh

You ever get a song stuck in your head? You ever get the same song every week stuck in your head? Well I do and it's none other than the popular hit by the Bangles "Manic Monday" Well it's a catchy little tune but for some reason (probably the word Monday in the title) I keep singing it EVERY FREAKING MONDAY! So that was the most annoying thing that happened today so over all it wasn't too bad.

My son does NOT mind hearing the same song over and over and over again. In fact, he goes through weeks of listening to the same repeatedly. This time it's Burning Love by Elvis Presley....you know the Hunka hunka burning love? Well that's his favorite song this month. Last month it was When Will I Be Loved by Linda Ronstadt. Before that it was On the Road again by Willie Nelson....then at one time it was Popular from the Wicked Soundtrack...is this MY child or WHAT? LOL
